During a ceremony at the "Tag der Lehre und des Lernens" at the University of Stuttgart, Dr. Nicolai Lang was officially awarded the "Lehrepreis 2025 der Universität Stuttgart." This award recognizes his commitment to education at the highest level of quality. As an award that is only granted when students are involved in the nomination process, it is clear that his dedication is deeply appreciated.
The laudatory address was given by those who know his lectures best—his students. They explained why they believed Nicolai deserved this award. Foremost among their reasons was his remarkable ability to break down and clearly explain complex and wide-ranging topics, such as Quantum Field Theory, Topological Phases of Matter, and, in particular, the Theory of Relativity. His lecture notes are equally well-structured and contain a wealth of additional information and explanations—so much so that they could almost be considered textbooks on the subjects. Nicolai also takes great care in contextualizing the lecture material and explaining how it relates to the broader body of knowledge.
Combined with his patient teaching style and his willingness to engage with students, this makes him an outstanding educator.
The entire ITP3 department congratulates Nicolai on this well-deserved award.
