Directions to the Institute

The Institute for Theoretical Physics III (ITP3) is located on the campus in Stuttgart-Vaihingen, approximately 5km south-west of the city center. Our institute is on the fifth floor in the building Pfaffenwaldring 57, the western of the two tall buildings on the campus (NWZ II).

The institute is located on the 5th floor of the NWZ II complex (red box).

Coming from the north via the Autobahn A81 until Autobahndreieck Leonberg. Change onto the Autobahn A8 in the direction of München. Follow the Autobahn until Autobahnkreuz Stuttgart-Vaihingen. Coming from east or west, follow the Autobahn A8 until Autobahnkreuz Stuttgart-Vaihingen. Change to the Autobahn A831 in direction Stuttgart until the exit Universität. At the first traffic lights, turn left and follow the signs Pfaffenwaldring. 

From Stuttgart main station with one of the following S-Bahn lines:

  • S1 in direction Böblingen/Herrenberg
  • S2 in direction Vaihingen/Filderstadt
  • S3 in direction Vaihingen/Flughafen

For convenience, prefer the rear part of the train. After approximately 10 minutes you will reach the stop Universität (4th stop). Use the exit Universitätszentrum (against the direction of travel).

From Stuttgart airport with one of the following S-Bahn lines:

  • S2 in direction Schorndorf
  • S3 in direction Backnang

For convenience, prefer the front part of the train. After approximately 15 minutes you will reach the stop Universität (7th stop). Use the exit Universitätszentrum (in the direction of travel).
